Holiday House Boutique or Busted

Palm Springs is the perfect getaway in my opinion. Whether you are looking for a local staycation, a fun birthday getaway or even a future bachelor/bachelorette destination, Palm Springs seriously has it all.

Holiday House Palm Springs Boutique or Busted Blog

From the beautiful mid-century modern design and architecture, year round warm weather, luxury golf courses & shopping and so many boujee Boutique Hotels, there’s a little bit for everyone in Palm Springs.

Over the past decade, old hotels and motels have been renovated and restored back to their glory. Just driving up and down the main streets of Palm Springs, you will see Boutique Hotel after Boutique Hotel. Makes my little heart so happy.

While most people will find the bigger resorts like The Saquaro and The Kimpton Rowan Hotel on the main pages of Expedia & Trip Advisor, they aren’t the Boutique Hotels that really are quintessential Palm Springs.

Check In & Lobby

Upon entering the front door, one of the first things you will see is their cool library lounge with all sorts of design and art books. Floor to ceiling blue wallpaper.. it’s a real wow! Great for a photo opp!

Their check-in area also had beautiful mid century furniture and an indoor/outdoor bar. There is not a typical “front desk.” Instead, an employee greeted me with a mask on, checked me in and gave me their safety/cleaning commitment & house rules during Covid.

The best part? They offer a speciality welcome cocktail.. Yes, Please!

I was escorted to my room and was given a brief rundown of the property. The whole check-in process was a breeze.

The Best Room

And yes, I really did stay in the “Best Room.”

Holiday House Palm Springs has three one bedroom room types, Good, Better and Best.

The “Best” rooms give you an outdoor patio, or balcony, and an extra large dining room. I booked the “Best” room through Hotels.com. I was in Room 26 & it had a wonderful balcony with both mountain and pool views.

Staying on brand, the entire room was outfitted with really cool blue wallpaper, decor & mid century modern furniture. I loved all the little details. It’s what made this place really feel like a Boutique Hotel.

From the fun snack basket, well-stocked mini bar & fridge, retro Palm Springs post cards & a generous Toiletry Bag stocked with goodies, all of these touches felt so special.

I also appreciated the thick black out blinds and very refreshing A/C. Oh, and I don’t want to forget the amazing Property Map they had in the room, which highlighted cool restaurants & bars nearby and things to do locally in Palm Springs.

The Bathroom was open concept with a soaking tub, great shower & two sinks. A small window inside the bathroom was great to let out steam from the shower too. Overall, the bathroom was perfect.

I really had no big complaints about the room. The smallest detail I noticed was that the kitchenette had no glassware, which was strange, because they had a mini bar.

It might be because of COVID I suppose, just thought that was a little odd. No wine glasses, no drinking glasses.

After seeing the property map, I would request this specific room again. It was an end unit, which gives you a bit more privacy and I also liked both the pool and the mountain views. While I could see the pool, I wasn’t getting any noise from it, which was peaceful.

Food & Drinks

A continental breakfast was served every day from 6-10am. It’s a “to-go” style breakfast with items like toast, banana bread, hot oats & yogurt. While I understand this is free, I would have liked to see a few more options. Personally, I would have died for 1/2 of an avocado and another egg option (as I’m not crazy about hard boiled).

Their tea selection was pretty basic (primarily black and earl gray), but I appreciated all of their different choices of milk & their grab and go fruit.

According to their website, they do offer Brunch, which I would assume is only on the weekends.

If you typically go ham for breakfast, this may not cut it for you. If that’s the case, I would suggest walking to The Juniper (bottom floor outside of the Kimpton Rowan Hotel) or Grand Central Palm Springs for a full breakfast.

I ate lunch both days by the pool and their lunch menu was awesome. You’ll find healthy options like Avocado Chicken Salad & a Baby Kale Salad. However, I tried the more indulgent items – The Pantry Cheeseburger and Fish Tacos. French Fries reminded me of In N Out’s, which I was not mad at!

The Fish Tacos were equally delicious! Highly Recommend! One small note is that the Garlic Aoili was pretty heavy on the tacos and made them a bit soggy (especially in the heat) and they quickly became hard to eat. I would recommend asking the Aoili on the side.

The Pool

The Pool was just as charming as the rest of the property. Dark Blue chaise lounges framed the rectangular pool and umbrellas were scattered throughout the pool area. Whether you’re looking for full sun or shade, you can easily find a lounge chair that has either. Servers were consistently walking around the pool area and always on top of guests needing cocktails, wine or food.

The other downside I saw both days was a bee problem. The bushes behind the chaise lounges have misters, which is nice, but I wonder if that attracts bees? And of course, if you eat food by the pool, which most people do, that’s probably going to attract bees pretty quick too. Now.. it’s one thing to see a bee or two. Not a big deal. But this was more extreme.

Both days I was laying out by the pool, there was probably 5-7 dead bees in the pool at any given time with other bees flying around. It would have been nice to have the pool attendant do a once over with a pool net to clean out the dead bees.

Aside from that, the views of the mountains were beautiful, the music was relaxing and the service staff was on point.
