Esperanza Resort is a sophisticated, upscale retreat along the Baja Coast. While the resort caters to hotel guests, it also has an active Vacation Rental program great for families or larger groups. The resort is very well manicured with bright, beautiful bougainvillea throughout the property. If you want action, daily activities such as yoga, cooking classes, kids activities and tequila tastings keep guests entertained. But if you’re looking for more of a peaceful getaway, their private beach, adults-only infinity pool and full service spa will be your new best friend. Esperanza truly has a little something for everyone.

Check in & Lobby

Arriving to Esperanza, an Auberge Resort, is seriously a vibe in itself. After you get off the freeway, you’ll spend about 5 minutes driving through the beautiful Esperanza grounds. Flowers, palm trees and cacti line the mile long driveway. It’s just so manicured, and simply beautiful. When you arrive to the check-in area, it’s like a breath of fresh air.

You really feel like, wow, you have arrived.

Stress? It’s gone. Anxiety? Forget about it!

All you see when you get out of your car is stunning, blue water.

If that’s not enough to forget your travel day or any stress in your life, their welcome cocktail will definitely do the trick.

Esperanza is a pretty large property so often times, you’ll see guests driven around in a golf cart by the Esperanza staff. The Esperanza grounds are all perfectly manicured but it is a wide, long property. Be prepared to do a fair amount of walking from your room, to the pool, to the restaurant, up and down stairs etc. If that’s an issue, you can call the front desk and they can take you most places via golf cart.

After checking in, my Concierge drove me to my Oceanview Spa Casita room and gave me a full tour of the room, shared daily activities that were available and offered to make dinner reservations for me. We communicated often throughout my stay via text and the Concierge service was very helpful.

The Room: Oceanview Spa Casita

The Oceanview Spa Casita room was luxurious and clean, with a modern Mexican twist. A large sliding glass door connected the inside to the spacious outdoor balcony.

The outside was probably my favorite part .. you don’t want to miss the to-die-for infinity-edge jacuzzi tub. The balcony also had a large L-Shaped daybed in the corner, perfect for reading a book or just taking an afternoon nap.

The view from the balcony was equally as stunning – overlooking the Adults-Only pool with an Oceanview. While my room was pretty close to the pool, you didn’t hear any of the noise in your room.

Inside, you’ll find the large King bed, Mexican textiles and handcrafted furniture. The bathroom has a good size bathtub, two shower heads and plenty of room to get ready. You can see the full Room Tour over on my Instagram page.

One thing to note – is that the Spa Casita rooms are located on either the 2nd or 3rd floor – with no elevator access. You’ll get your steps in going up and down but I think the view from the room is definitely worth it.

Food & Drinks

Cocina Del Mar Esperanza Cabo Boutique or Busted

Esperanza has a few restaurants on-site that you can enjoy. My personal favorites are Cocina Del Mar and La Palapa.

The most “famous” restaurant at Esperanza is definitely Cocina Del Mar, which you can reserve on Open Table (for hotel AND non-hotel guests). It’s located right on the cliffside with stunning ocean views. Even at night, the restaurant is gorgeous!

You can hear the waves crashing below and can feel the cool ocean breeze. It’s one of Cabo’s most popular, romantic restaurants for special occasions, weddings and private events. The servers I had throughout my stay were attentive, accommodating and provided great recommendations.

At night, you’ll find entrees like Filet Mignon, Grilled Octopus and Catch of the Day. During the day, Cocina Del Mar serves breakfast and lunch to hotel guests only. You’ll find things like Eggs Benedict, Omelettes, Avocado Toast and more. Highly recommend!

Esperanza also has La Palapa, an outdoor restaurant that serves authentic Mexican dishes like ceviche and tacos. During the day, you can eat and drink at La Palapa via the swim-up pool bar. The views are equally as stunning at La Palapa, but with a bit more of a casual vibe.

Pools

Not one, not two, but three pools at Esperanza!

Like I mentioned above, La Palapa is attached to one of the pools at Esperanza. This pool is nice and spacious, with plenty of lounge chairs. It has a swim-up pool bar and welcomes both adults and kids … so by nature, it’s a bit more lively than the Adults-only pool. My personal favorite, no surprise here, is the adults-only infinity pool.

Adults-Only Pool Esperanza Cabo Boutique or Busted

It’s peaceful and relaxing – this is not a party pool by any means. This pool has the best view and location in my opinion. This pool itself is right off of the beach, so if thats important to you, you’re only steps away from the lounge chairs and cabanas on the sand.

The pool area also has a few levels and stairs take you down each level. You never feel like someone is directly in front of you so you really have unobstructed ocean views from any lounge chair at the pool.

And let me talk about the lounge chairs for just a second.. oh my… they feel like you’re laying on a cloud. So comfortable! The padding on the lounge chair is thick … almost feels like a Spa lounge chair… you feel like you’re just sinking into a dreamy heavenly pillow.

There is also food service out by the pool and you’ll find lighter fare, such as ahi-tuna salad, ceviche, guacamole and chicken skewers.

Now.. Let’s talk about the Spa…

The Spa at Esperanza

The Spa at Esperanza is a full-service spa with separate mens and womens spa facilities. The spa is just as serene and peaceful as the rest of the property.

Esperanza Hotel Spa Boutique or Busted

The Spa does have a beautiful coy-pond near the entrance, a well stocked spa gift shop and fitness center. When I visited, the fitness center required reservations, so you may want to verify that upon check-in.

However, I was a bit surprised that the Spa was located more inland than I thought. For how incredible the ocean views are from the entire Esperanza property, you won’t see any water views from the Spa. Somewhat a bummer, I thought.

As far as the spa itself, there is a mix of indoor and outdoor facilities. I personally loved the outdoor jacuzzi and lounge area. The outdoor area was surrounded by palm trees, flowers and greenery. It was really peaceful and quiet.

Inside, you’ll find the steam and sauna room and small refreshments such as cookies, fruit, tea and flavored water. There is also indoor/outdoor private showers that you can enjoy before or after your service.

If you are there with a spouse, you can enjoy a small outdoor co-ed lounge area too.

The massage itself was very lovely, but the massage room was nothing special. It was typical of a basic massage room, with no view of any kind. The Spa was a nice way to spend half a day but I likely would not book a massage there again because for the price, it didn’t wow me.

Esperanza Hotel Spa Boutique or Busted

If you’re not a big Spa person but you still want to experience it – I would definitely look into a “Day Pass” to enjoy the facilities and to disconnect. If you are someone that enjoys Spa’s regularly, you may want to opt for one of their custom, Spa experiences so you can really get the most of your time (and money) there.

Is Esperanza Resort Boutique or Busted?

Esperanza is Boutique!

Esperanza, an Auberge Resort, is absolutely boutique. Everything from the Oceanview Spa Casita room, to the amazing food, to the adults-only infinity pool, to the service (across the board) was exceptional. This might be the most expensive property I have stayed at, but I would absolutely stay here again for a special occasion. It’s a special place to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, baby-moon or any big moment. I hope this review helps your future Cabo travels! Happy Traveling, friends.
