Todos Santos Travel Guide

Todos Santos is artsy, understated and the “quiet girl” of Baja. It still feels a bit untouched. Here you’ll find a small collection of Boutique Hotels, design-forward eateries and a charming downtown area. Roughly a 60 minute drive from the Cabo airport, you’d come for the slow mornings and surf breaks.. but will stay for the disconnection.

Where to Stay

Hotel San Cristobal feels like it was designed straight out of an Instagram daydream. Nestled right on the edge of the Baja desert meeting the Pacific Ocean, it’s got this effortless boho-chic vibe that blends modern minimalism with rustic charm. Think whitewashed walls, terracotta tiles, and pops of vibrant textiles that make every corner look like the perfect backdrop. Basically, if your camera roll doesn’t explode with content here, you’re doing it wrong.

Located at the end of a dirt road, when you arrive, you’ve truly arrived. And you can do everything, or nothing at all. Veg by the pool. Read a book in your own dipping pool. Walk the beach. Sip espresso by the fireplace. Eat fresh ceviche. Drink mezcal under string lights at night.

Benno, the restaurant on-site, is one of the best in Todos Santos. They also have a farm-to-table restaurant nestled within their veggie garden. You really don’t need to leave the property for anything… but if you’re itching to get into town, you’re only a 10 minute drive away. 1000 recommend this cute little place.
Todos Santos was largely undiscovered from tourists until this modern property opened up. Paradero quickly made its way into every major magazine and won multiple awards for its design-forward architecture, including its iconic Half Moon Pool and Sky Suites. Guests will appreciate the focus on experiences over excess, so think daily yoga sessions, farm-to-table cooking classes, hiking and surf lessons.
The property is tucked into the desert landscape near the Pacific coast, about an hour north of the Cabo airport.

On one side, you have the lush farm land … the other side, a beautiful desert landscape. It’s sleek, but unstated in the best way. The whole place feels like a secret oasis designed for adventure and relaxation alike. If you haven’t seen this place pop up on your social media yet, here’s your sign to book the vacation!
If you want to be in town, this place is perfect. During the pandemic, it changed hands and went through an extensive renovation. Each of the 10 suites ooze a moody luxurious vibe, complete with elevated decor, LeLabo toiletries and enough space to stay a while.

There is a restaurant and lounge on-site, which are equally as beautiful. And the rooftop is the perfect spot to catch the sunset. The courtyard pool is a nice quiet escape… a place that invites you to grab a book and relax.

Every design choice has been so thoughtfully curated. While it might lack some amenities (no gym, no spa), the concierge is incredibly helpful. They can arrange experiences for guests like in-room spa services and they have wonderful recommendations for places to check out in town. The walkability is also great and certainly a big reason alone to stay here.

Where to Eat & Drink

Taller 17 - Delicious coffee, tea, kombucha and pastries - Hipster vibes, have milk alternatives
Cafe Las Tunas - Super cute outdoor brunch and coffee spot (the journey is the destination)
Benno at Hotel San Cristobal - If you aren't staying at the hotel, it's still worth the drive down the dirt road
1890 - Located in the Todos Santos Boutique Hotel, it's one of the more glamorous places to eat in town
Oystera - Yes, an oyster bar in Downtown Todos Santos! The most Instagramable restaurant in the area.
La Confianza - Haven't met a wine bar I didn't like. But who knew there'd be one in this town.. This one doesn't disappoint.

What to do

1. Explore Town – Lots of cute shops and places to explore in Downtown Todos Santos. Some of the highlights: Nomad Chic, Hijo Rojo and Desert Fox. Too many cute little shops to list here, just go explore!

2. Outdoor Activities – The best outdoor activities to do in Todos Santos would be hiking the nearby Sierra de la Laguna mountain, and surfing. Most hotels can arrange both of these for you. Some of the beaches can have dangerous riptides so go with the locals recommendations for the best places to surf.

3. Opt for Local Experiences – You won’t find a ton of “excursions” here. And I think that’s because Todos Santos is conveniently located away from the hustle and bustle of Cabo. I’d suggest checking out a local cooking class, a yoga class or exploring the local art galleries and museums.

4. Pool / Beach Time – Todos Santos is still somewhat a sleepy surf town.  You don’t feel rushed here, so it’s perfectly okay to veg out by the pool or beach and call it a day. Come here to unplug, recharge, and you’ll leave with both memories and some content worth sharing.
